Received several calls from this number today - approximately 20. Gentleman is looking for names of directors in my company stating that the "call is urgent", yet will not leave voice mail messages which leads me to believe the phone call is neither urgent, nor legitimate.
Does anyone know who is calling from this number? Received several calls from them.
Do not want to call it back because I think it may deal with inappropriate content
I got this number via text message. It says " Did you know your number is on a bathroom wall?" It's pretty random but I think it's a scheme. I didn't respond.
I got a call from this number, but they asked for Mr. Silva-as I started to say 'he's not home,' he's deceased-they hung up! (most people slaughter the name) Tried to call them, but blocked and no machine/it's full.
I don't want to be bothered by these creeps!!
I have had several calls from this number but have never answered the phone. Had a call today at 11:30 a.m. I wish these people who have nothing better to do than to scam and cheat would find something more amusing to do. I for one am sick of this type of calls. Really annoying.
I never answer my phone unless I know who it is. Hopefully these scum suckers find that bothersome.
I got a call from 617-999-0000 at 11:30 am on 2-5-13. I answered on the second ring. They never said anything. I immediately called back. A computer said "You are being transferred.." I got another message saying the voice mailbox was full.
This just happened to me and they said they were our furnace cleaning company and if they weren't how would they know our name address and phone number. Kept arguing with me until I went silent and eventually hung up.
Actually, the "0000" is a valid number in some area codes and exchanges.
My former manager has a "0000" sequence on her landline phone.
However, an area code of "000" or an exchange of "000" is invalid.
Actually, the "0000" in the number is valid.
My department's Manager has those digits on her cell number.
they keep callling my house too, maybe ppl should start calling verizon to report this number and agree, rejects with far too much time on their hands, look at it this way, at least were not one of them, they are an embarassment to themselves, and show their character to be unwell, bizare, and sit all day behind a phone or comp to mess with others.....good god....ppl need to make complaints even to the BBB or higher to stop them cold, responsibilty for their childlike behavior
The final 0000 sequence is a giveaway that this not a real number — they're faking their Caller ID, a sure sign that they're sleazebags of some stripe. I've also had calls from a very similar fake number, 617-123-0000, which other correspondents have identified as belonging to "American Chimney". This seems likely to be the same ethically-challenged vermin.
Don't forget - Verizon can't restrict "inappropriate behavior" for specific individuals without getting a court order. The reason is that it's pretty tough to define inappropriate behavior without stumbling over the First Amendment. But Verizon should be able to allow you to block callers who are hiding their phone number. If enough people call and write to Verizon, they will eventually do that.
its clear these people are in need of desperate attention, or just general harassers with too much time on their hands, I am surrpised with verizons reputation that they allow this inappropriate behavior from their service, i did press star 57 to go to the police and suggest everyone do the same in the hopes they can be stopped, or get law enforcement involved, maybe even call verizon and file a complaint against that number, with the hopes they too can investigate, i was a victim of harassing calls some years back, DONT LET IT HAPPEN TO YOU
I had the same experience, a male voice said hello and when I asked who was calling there was no answer. I said "do not call this number again" and got no response. I hung up. Would like to know where to report these harassing calls, they come multiple times a day.
A little research and it shows the number is a Verizon cell phone. You're right, if you call back the call goes to voicemail - today voicemail box is full. Isn't that a surprise. I've had calls from this number a couple of times. Last one was this morning at 10 a.m. Answered it, and a male voice said "hello." When I answered with "who's calling" there was an immediate hangup.
