Got a call claiming there was a hold on my charge card. Press one to release the hold etc. Never once indicating which card had a hold on it. Called the number back and it goes to a fast busy ring.
Fraudster trying to extort money. Claim there have been criminal charges filed against me for failure to pay a debt. Refuses to provide info regarding the debt. Threatens arrest if payment isn't made. Called himself Jay Harris and says he was hired by "United Firms" to collect payment or serve me a subpoena. Total scam.
harrassing phone calls
Multiple calls from this number. Callers have identified themselves as Jay Harris, Tracy Daniels and Mike Peña. Callers claim to work as investigators for United Firms, callers refuse to provide mailing address, phone and fax info for the company (searches for a company by this name have returned no results). They say I need to provide my address so they can discuss the "formal claim" that has been filed against me, or the "criminal charges" which are being filed. They claim that they'll arrest me if I don't call another number and pay them. They claim that I am being sued or being criminally charged for fraud due to failure to repay an internet payday loan. They call multiple times a day. This is a known extortion scam and I continue to log all calls through an open complaint with IC3.gov.
Called and harrased me.
If you knopw someone in jail this is a jail call. The company sets up a line of communication with inmates to call outside lines and vice versa.
I'm getting the same call, 562-999-5500, and I tried to answer this morning because it's my work cell phone. There is nothing on the line and it hangs up in just a few seconds. When I called back I got a vm saying to leave a message for the person at ext. 4320, and then it says that the vm box is full and then it says an error has occurred and hangs up. Sheesh! I truly don't understand what is gained by these calls. (I live in Long Beach, also)
Someone at 562-999-5500 is calling us every day. We screen all calls, and never pick up those that aren't identified as someone we know.
They never leave a message, and hang up as soon as the answering machine comes on. Caller ID says the call is from "Long Beach" (city where we live, in CA). Luckily, we have a caller ID that speaks the caller's name, so we don't have to run to the phone to see who it is.
