Yup...our old sleazebag friends at "card services" (and assorted other scams) are spoofing yet another number. Be real nice if the FTC could actually put these dirtballs out of business permanently.
Got this call today from the # 1-407-999-9999 claiming that I had won an all enclusive trip to Cancun and needed to press #9 on phone to claim prize. Hung up and pressed the pound key on phone, was told that it blocks my number from telemarketers.
Again, I am also on the Do Not Call list for several years. Re did a year ago. Still getting these types calls. No message left on machine.
Received the call from 407-999-9999. No one was on the other end and when i called back to it, it was a high pitch squelch. Odd.
Second week in row, first week I said I had U$ 100,000 in debts ... they got interested. Next they wanted to know if I had at least ONE CREDIT CARD being paid on time or zero balance or still shopping with. Said: "No, i'm in a terrible situation." ->, They hang up !
This week, I said I was not interested in reducing my interest. ->, They hang up !
Recorded message to here in Canada, and the B***H said I have been pre-selected for a Bahamas vacation, and to press 9 to continue the process. Yeah, as if, you stupid F**K. So, called it back that I could say those words, but just a high pitch squelch, and hung-up. Wow, I changed my mind and wanted that vacation, lol, such is my life! Sux to be me! LOL
This is a SCAM to steal your CREDIT CARD NUMBER AND/OR PERSONAL INFORMATION. This organization does this in one of several ways. From this particular number, they claim: ''this is your final warning'' in a recording to have your Credit Card APR lowered and call themselves ''Card Services.''
They give only one keypad option after the recording (in this case #9, speak to representative). If you ask their company name or company affiliation, they will IMMEDIATELY HANG UP!
They sometimes call with a different pitch about how ''your auto insurance is about to expire and this is your final warning to renew your auto insurance.'' I personally live in NY City and haven't owned a vehicle in decades since there is no need thanks to subway and bus service.
In all cases, the caller ID number is either spoofed, or a recording of a sharp tone, fax tone, or a RECORDING OF an official Verizon: ''the number you have reached is no longer in service'' recording.
YOU SHOULD ATTEMPT TO GET AS MUCH INFO AS POSSIBLE WITHOUT GIVING THEM ANY REAL INFORMATION ABOUT YOURSELF AND IMMEDIATELY REPORT THEM TO THE GOVERNMENT AT THE NATIONAL DO NOT CALL REGISTRY COMPLAINT SITE HERE:
Received a prerecorded message fishing around for my choice to lower my credit card finance rate. Just like the other posting ,no credit card company was specified. I hung up before any "live person" may have picked up on the other end. Even when I don't anser the phone for this call gets treated as answered by my voice provider. My phone company says to just call block it, or hit *57 to forward the call to law enforcement. Called Id shows the incoming calling party as 407-999-9999 Bell South which is now AT&, T. When I tried to call their number back, I just got an extended beep or tone. Maybe everyone should call at the same time. Even if you only get a beep maybe they will get the message.
1st our phone number is on the "do not call list" why are we getting these annoying calls ?
2nd this call comes thru with a recording stating that there is nothing wrong with our credit card standings however it is urgent we speak to someone regarding our expiring time for lower interest rates .. press a # to speak with someone.. at which point they hung up on me when I questioned why they are calling &, how they got my number.
Not only is this VERY annoying but extremely rude! They are the caller !!!
This number has appeared on our caller ID time times in the 4 days. (We have two lines in our home and the ID has shown up on both lines.) Two of the the three calls did not leave a message. One triggered a message record, but just a little noise came through on the message.
I had this same call today. She hung up on me too! I think it is simply a scam. My caller ID said Bellsouth Tel, also.
Also just received a call from this number. Pressed 9 and asked what credit card "Jeremy" was with. He hung up. 10:58 AM
After a little more search on the Web, I found the following website which sells vitamins, etc. that had the 407-999-9999 number listing amongst many different numbers and locations.
Wellness 4 Bio
Phone: (407) 999-9999
recorded woman states opportunity to lower interest rate on your credit card...if interested press 9.
i did and someone answered saying "i understand you are interested in lowering your interest rate?" i said i just received a call and didnt know what credit card they were talking about. she hung up on me on 8/15/08 at 1:42pm.
Sounds like Heather from "card services " may be using a new spoofed number.
likewise the do not call is a joke i still get these calls but guess what my police whistle lays right beside my phone hahaha on them
i got a call from them today, asking if I wanted to lower my credit card interest rate. I said I did. So she said well I need to verify your first and last name. So I waited and didnt say anything. She said, well what is it? I said, YOU tell ME.... she hung up..LOL.
Did they leave another number to call them back on? Give it to me. I'll call them if it is a number different than the 9999 number..
This number just called me too - asking for a return call without stating their business - like I am SO sure I'll be calling them back...
I am on the do not call list ... should not be getting phone calls from this number
